Thanks to a kind invitation I spent two lovely days at the Klein Karoo National Arts Festival (better known as KKNK). As usual, it was easier to drag around the cellphone than the camera, so I came back with only a few shots.

Imaginary Letter
To those who don’t know, I’m not much of a believer. I try to respect the opinions of others and am in favour of religious freedom. However, sometimes I cannot help to be dumbfounded by current events and I use this blog as my little voice.
As often, my aim here is satirical. I don’t intend to convince anyone of my point of view. I oppose the idea of doing so.
If you are an easily offended Christian, it might be better not to read the rest of this post.
Also, please note, when I use the term “God” I think of a concept or even a character from literature, not a person.
More Night Skies
These were taken April 17, 2017, (my dad’s birthday). I’ve tried to make them a little bigger – or I should say: not to make them quite so small.
benign things
It seems achieving the simplicity I desperately crave is an impossibly complicated task.
Simon Series
Simon I
Simon of Cyrene was told to carry Jesus’ cross
he’d set out on his own but violence forced a different coin toss
the heavy burden of fate
had caused him to wait
how often a good deed leads to an enormous loss.
Insomnia
Insomnia …
Wherefore art thou at my quest,
when all I honestly intended was rest?

Moon and Stars
Despite the full moon, and an annoying light-source from elsewhere, I tried my hand at the skies, so to speak. It’s nothing spectacular, but I’ll try again.
The moon tonight
Lately, I’ve been keen to do a bit of night photography, but we’ve had clouds on most days and the fuller the moon, the more difficult to get the stars. The solution: photograph the moon.
The JZ PROBLEMO
After all sorts of ramblings, black T-shirts, black Mondays, rowdy Fridays and what not … we still haven’t managed to get rid of our honourable president.
Fear not! We already have plans A, B, C, D and E.
It’s multiple choice … because people in this country are not big on, you know, agreeing with each other.
I emphasise – in the strongest possible terms – all these are merely suggestions. Read at own risk.
Getting married
Nothing wrong with a haiku for a friend getting married in the morning.
