Oddly, I’m one of those people who tend to add significance to dates, despite being really terrible with numbers. Not merely, as normal people do, in terms of keeping appointments– I like to read this day in history type articles and I keep a record of the “anniversaries” of significant events in my life.
Today I took a few pictures of my local landscape just to add a marker to the date.
For someone terrible with numbers I have an odd obsession with significant dates. September 9 is a personal one, but also the birthday of Leo Tolstoy.
I’m fairly convinced this is the most beautiful coral tree in town, especially after my neighbours’ one had to be removed a few years ago. So far I’ve managed to stay off the garden wall (of these complete strangers) to see if I can get a better view– but who knows how long that’ll last.
If you read about the adoption of the Gregorian calendar since the calculation of a year in the Julian calendar was simply incorrect, then older historical dates seem of less significance. Then, of course, there are dates like Christmas which are known to be inaccurate.
This tree, as the one in the next pic, is located on the grounds of the primary school I attended. At around the age of 12, I spent a few terrifying days in the hospital in the background because of an asthma attack. At the time I was afraid of needles– nothing remains of that fear.
