Recently a young friend started his valedictory speech with these words:  “When you embark for strange places don’t leave any of yourself safely on the shore. Have the nerve to go into unexplored territory.” Alan Alda.

I had to Google Alan Alda and … I had to think about the quote, but I get it now.

When I started this blog I thought I would choose what to reveal and what to conceal, but it has since dawned upon me: that won’t be possible.

This won’t mean over-sharing, but sincerity is as hard to fake in the written word as in the spoken variety.

Forward thus and soon you’ll see some new categories here and neither my lighter moments nor the depth of my darkness will be left safely on the shore.
